In June 2024 100 walkers embarked on a 100 mile walk challenge, in support of Rally Round Rupert Charity – the ‘100 Walk 100’ challenge – a 100-mile challenge along the iconic Cotswold Way.
This incredible 3 day event brought together walkers of all ages and abilities to support a worthy cause and enjoy the stunning scenery of the Cotswolds. Including Stan, a 17 year old with SMA type 3, who completed the entire route in a manual wheelchair!
The walk was a gruelling but rewarding journey, taking participants through picturesque villages, rolling hills, and ancient woodlands. Despite the physical demands, the atmosphere was filled with camaraderie and determination as walkers cheered each other on and celebrated their progress together.
Thanks to the generosity of participants and sponsors, the event raised in excess of £109,000. This money will go towards supporting the ACE SMA trial with ACE SMA (charity) and University of Oxford. Please click here to find out more about the ACE SMA trial.
A huge congratulations to all those who took part in the event, and to the supporters and volunteers who made it such a success. A special thank you to Stan who has inspired us all with his determination, courage and strength.
We look forward to seeing what next year’s walk will bring!
